Where does the Poi dance come from?

There is a term in New Zealand, ‘Kapa haka’, which refers to the Maori performing arts. It consists of a very powerful combination of dance, music, and singing. If you ever visit the country, you can't leave without experiencing the emotion of the kapa haka firsthand.

Poi dance is encompassed within a classical representation of kapa haka. Within this, there are different compositions, ranging from elegant choirs to magnetic war dances.

In the poi, each performer performs pirouettes with a poi (ball attached to a rope), with the objective of forming part of a choreography with other dance partners and which also includes percussion. The sounds are achieved by executing changes of direction hitting the ball with some part of the body. This achieves a special charm.

Characteristics of the LED balls

In the most classic and primitive poi there was no LED light, but in Luminosos Fluorescentes we wanted to take this dance to our own field. For this reason, each LED ball has an ON / OFF button with which you can activate and deactivate 8 glow modes: fixed dark blue, fixed green, fixed pink, fixed orange, fixed red, fixed white and fixed light blue, as well as a vibrant modality in which all the colours are combined with rapid flashes.
